Jaw Pain (TMJ) & Snoring Solutions in Christchurch

Jaw pain and disrupted sleep can affect daily life in ways that are easy to underestimate. We can help you to identify the causes behind these issues and plan an effective solution often in collaboration with a sleep physician and a TMJ (temporo-mandibular joint) physiotherapist.

Understanding TMJ & Jaw Pain. Headache and neck pain, clicking, or tightness in the jaw joint (TMJ) are often linked to some sort of trauma to the joint, or teeth grinding and clenching. We take the time to properly assess what is driving your symptoms before recommending treatment, which can occasionally include Botox injections as well to help relax the muscles involved.

Night Guards & Splints. For many patients, a custom-fitted night guard or splint can significantly reduce jaw tension and protect teeth from the effects of grinding, offering relief without more invasive treatment.

Advanced Laser Technology (BIOLASE). This low-level red laser technology is one way to treat muscular pain with biostimulation/pain relief. The laser delivers focused infrared energy to the affected area, which can help ease muscle tension, reduce inflammation, and support healing.

Snoring & Sleep Appliances. Snoring can sometimes be eased with a custom oral appliance that gently repositions the jaw during sleep, improving airflow and, often, sleep quality for both you and those around you.

When to Seek Help. If you are waking with jaw pain, headaches, or you or a partner are concerned about snoring, it is worth having it properly assessed. Many of these issues respond well to simple, non-invasive treatment.
