Beata Baumann - Elmwood Dental

I completed my medical degree in Hungary in 2000. I moved to New Zealand in 2004 and applied to the School of Dentistry at the University of Otago. After graduation, I have worked as a Dental House Surgeon at Christchurch Hospital, then spent many rewarding years in private practices across Christchurch and North Canterbury. I have built lasting relationships with patients and managed to continually refining my skills.  What I love most about dentistry, is the unique blend of science, precision, and creativity it offers. My focus has always been on providing personalised, honest, and gentle care. I believe great dentistry is about more than healthy teeth, it needs a more holistic approach where helping people feel comfortable, confident, and genuinely cared for. I have a particular interest in aesthetic dentistry, and beside work I enjoy art and having a paint brush in my hand.

Combining this great hobby with dentistry, has given me a career that I feel privileged to enjoy every day.

Kristine Bettle - Elmwood Dental

I began my working life as a Registered Nurse before making the leap into dentistry, graduating as Dux of my class from Griffith University, Queensland, in 2011. My nursing background still shapes how I practise today. It gives me a real feel for helping patients relax in the chair. I'm often told I have a kind bedside manner (and small, gentle hands to match).

I have a particular interest in difficult extractions, wisdom teeth removal, implants, and I am experienced in using intravenous sedation to ease anxious patients through treatment. I have done my postgraduate diploma in implants and have thoroughly enjoyed this postgraduate learning journey.

Outside of the clinic, I love getting outdoors whenever I can. In my spare time you'll find me at reformer pilates, out on long walks or slowly working away at learning German. I can't wait to meet you at Elmwood Dental and I feel so grateful to work alongside such a fabulous team.

Katherine Jack - Elmwood Dental

I've been working as a dentist in Christchurch since 2013, and building real relationships with my patients is still what I enjoy most about the job. I try to make dentistry as positive an experience as possible, staying patient-focused and taking the time to understand each person's specific needs and preferences before I ever recommend treatment.

I enjoy all aspects of general dentistry, and I'm able to communicate with members of our Deaf community using New Zealand Sign Language. In 2018, I completed my examinations to become a member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, something I'm genuinely proud of. Outside of work, you'll usually find me spending time with my husband and young children, or in the middle of yet another home improvement project.

Cindy Liu - Elmwood Dental

I graduated with distinction from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery and a Bachelor of Oral Health, then worked at Christchurch Hospital as a Dental House Surgeon, gaining valuable experience in oral surgery and treating medically complex patients.

I understand that going to the dentist can be scary for some people, so I take real pride in my calm manner and thoughtful approach, taking the time to understand each patient's concerns and goals. As part of the team at Elmwood Dental, I'm committed to helping every patient feel informed, comfortable, and confident in their care. Outside of dentistry, you'll usually find me spending time with friends, getting outdoors, or curled up with a good book.

Kasia Borkowska - Elmwood Dental

I graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Poznan Medical University, Poland, in 2001, then became a registered dentist in New Zealand in 2004 after completing the NZREX Clinical examination at the University of Otago.

For over 20 years I worked at a busy Timaru practice, caring for patients from young children to older generations and building genuine, lasting relationships in the community. Now in Christchurch, I enjoy helping people improve their smiles, especially through minimally invasive procedures.

My approach is gentle and patient-focused. I take the time to listen and explain treatment clearly, which makes a real difference for anyone who feels nervous about visiting the dentist.

Outside the chair, I enjoy family, friends, reading, and biking. I look forward to meeting you and your family, and helping you enjoy healthy, confident smiles for years to come.

Tyla Roe - Elmwood Dental

I graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Oral Health, where I was awarded the University of Otago Prestige Scholarship in Oral Health. I enjoy all aspects of dental hygiene and love building real relationships with my patients.

I believe good oral health starts with understanding, so I take a thorough, gentle approach and enjoy helping patients feel confident caring for their teeth and gums. With experience in both community and private practice, I've cared for patients of all ages, and I have a particular soft spot for helping nervous or apprehensive patients feel comfortable and supported.

Originally from sunny Tauranga, I've now made Christchurch my home. Outside of work, you'll find me reading, cooking, or keeping active. I'm excited to join the Elmwood Dental team and can't wait to meet my new patients.
